Chapter Five

Jarek stretched before opening his eyes. Still gloriously nude, Mica was adding fresh wood to the fire. “Were you cold?”

Once again, Mica shrugged.

“Spend some time with him. It’s important the two of you build a relationship with each other. Although I’m crazy about you both, I may not always be around. I need to know the two of you can keep each other company.”

Mica increased his hold on Jarek. “Are you planning to leave us?”

“No, but it would be nice to know the two of you could go on without me. You know, that you could bring each other comfort?”

Mica ran his fingers through Jarek’s hair. “I’ll die before I let anything else happen to you. I’ll never forgive myself for letting you go with Maquay and Bly that night.”

Jarek shook his head. He couldn’t bear the guilt in his lover’s eyes. “If it hadn’t been for Maquay, I probably wouldn’t have tried to find Suni. Everything happens for a reason.
